A Sonic Reflection of Pittsburgh

Mars Jackson is a true voice of authenticity in Pittsburgh’s music scene, seamlessly weaving the soul of hip-hop with the rich textures of jazz and funk. His music isn’t just sound—it’s storytelling, capturing the rhythm of city life, from its triumphs to its struggles, dreams to realities. As an independent hip-hop artist, Mars pours his deep love for the genre into every beat and lyric, forging a connection with his audience that runs deeper than music.

Drawing inspiration from Pittsburgh’s cultural landscape and resilient spirit, Mars creates music that reflects the places, people, and experiences that have shaped him. His debut album, Good Days Never Last Forever, executive produced by Nice Rec and released in 2018, blends soulful storytelling with jazz and funk influences. The album explores themes of growth, resilience, and life’s fleeting moments, featuring standout tracks like Simple with Benji. of Spillage Village—featured on Queen Sugar (Oprah Network)—the groovy Heart Dance, and the G-funk-infused No Script. The project reached international audiences, gaining traction in Australia and London.

In 2024, Mars teamed up with Wiz Khalifa’s DJ, DJ Bonics, for Standing On Business, which landed on Shade 45,  and he performed at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Denver. His music has been featured on major platforms like Pigeons & Planes, Complex, and Noisey Music by Vice, further solidifying his presence in the industry. Whether opening for acts like Lupe Fiasco, Wiz Khalifa, Logic, The Internet, EarthGang, Flatbush Zombies, JMSN, and Gary Clark Jr., lending his voice to a national Nike commercial, or crafting new music in the studio, Mars remains committed to his vision—one that speaks to the soul and resonates far beyond his hometown.

In a world where trends fade fast, Mars stands out by staying true to his roots. Welcome to the journey.
